Sustaining Creativity

Our Commitment to a Better Future

Building a Sustainable Creative Industry

At Coalesce, sustainability is about more than just environmental impact—it’s about building a lasting, fair, and thriving creative industry. We believe that small independent creatives should have the opportunity to work on major projects that require more resources than they can offer on their own, earn a sustainable living, and grow their careers.

A Framework for Collective Success

We founded Coalesce to create opportunities for small creative businesses by enabling them to pitch collectively for large-scale work. To ensure high standards, we built a structured framework that all our partners work within — one that is ISO 9001:2015 certified. This system guarantees professionalism, consistency, and quality across all projects, giving our clients confidence while allowing independent creatives to operate at the highest level.

We also take a regional-first approach when clients require work outside of Dublin, actively engaging local photographers and videographers to support economic growth in those areas. This ensures that creative work contributes to regional communities rather than directing all revenues back to Dublin.

Knowledge Sharing and Growth

A rising tide lifts all boats. We see immense value in the collective knowledge of our creative network and have embedded knowledge-sharing into our culture through Co.Lab—our education and mentorship initiative. Through workshops, training sessions, and peer support, we help independent creatives refine their skills, improve their businesses, and grow together.

Supporting the Creative Industry Through Challenges

Sustainability also means resilience, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, we took action to help photographers and videographers across Ireland navigate reopening their businesses. When the Irish Government required all businesses to create a Back to Business Plan, we developed a six-step template guide to help creatives structure their own COVID-19 Response Plan. This resource was distributed through the IPPVA to all registered photographers and videographers in Ireland and was made available to other industry organisations. By cutting through bureaucracy, we ensured that independent creatives had a clear, practical way to return to work safely during a time of uncertainty.

We have also launched:

  • A Senior Creative Shadowing Programme, providing less-experienced professionals the chance to learn first-hand from industry leaders.
  • An Intern Programme, offering pathways into photography and videography careers for new talent.
  • A Female Mentorship Initiative, actively supporting women in the industry by mentoring female photographers and videographers within our group, helping them grow their confidence and establish themselves in a traditionally male-dominated field.

Documenting Our B Corp Journey

The Next Step: B Corp Certification

As we move forward, we are reinforcing our commitment to ethical business practices, governance, and social responsibility. In 2025, we plan to apply for B Corp certification, a recognition of our dedication to people, clients, and the industry. Many of our current practices already align with B Corp’s rigorous standards, making this a natural next step.

Becoming a certified B Corp is a journey, and we believe in sharing the reality of that process—the challenges, lessons, and progress—openly with our community. Throughout 2025, we will be documenting our experience on this page, with monthly updates detailing what we’re learning along the way. Our goal is to give clients, partners, and fellow creatives an authentic look at what it takes to meet the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility. At the end of the year, we will release a full report summarising our journey, the improvements we’ve made, and what’s next for Coalesce.

In addition to this, we are developing a reporting framework that creative businesses can use to track and share their own sustainability progress. By providing a structured approach to measuring impact, we aim to make sustainability reporting more accessible and actionable for our industry, empowering more creatives to build responsible and resilient businesses."
